Offered for Sale is this very cool Bakelite "clamper" bracelet. The bracelet is a marbled mixture of translucent and opaque lemon drop yellow colored Bakelite.
The bracelet has been decorated with deep diagonal slash carvings to create triangular shapes that have oval shaped thumbprint carvings at the base of the triangle shapes. The carvings are found on the front and back of the bracelet.
Based on its patina, the styling and the materials used in its construction, I believe the bracelet was made in the 1950-1960's. A very cool example of mid century modern jewelry design!
The bracelet has a slightly asymmetrical shape. It is 1 1/4" in the front that tapers down to 1" in the back of the bracelet. The inside dimensions are 1 3/4" from top to bottom and 2 1/4" from side to side. The bracelet weighs a chunky 66 grams.
The condition of the bracelet is excellent No chips, scratches, or other wear related condition issues were noted. The bracelet tested positive with Simichrome polish. (See photo #10)
The tension of the spring in the clasp is outstanding and the bracelet snaps shut and stays shut when being worn. All four pins holding the clasp to the bracelet are present and seated firmly in place.
