Offered for Sale is this cool Art Deco Era Bakelite "clamper" bracelet. The design of the bracelet features two deep horizontal grooves carved into the front of the bracelet. The back of the bracelet is uncarved.
The bracelet is a solid jet black color. Often true black Bakelite will not test positive for Bakelite when using Simichrome polish. However, after testing this bracelet with Simichrome, I'm thinking that this bracelet may be one of the exceptions as it did appear to test positive. (See photo #10)
Based on its patina, its sleek design and the materials used in its construction, I believe the bracelet was made during the Art Deco Era.
The bracelet is 3/4" wide and the inside dimensions are 1 5/8" from top to bottom and 2 1/4" from side to side. The bracelet weighs 44 grams.
The condition of the bracelet is excellent. No chips, scratches, or other condition issues were noted. The tension of the spring in the clasp is outstanding and the bracelet snaps shut and stays shut when being worn.
