Offered for Sale is this gorgeous Art Deco Era Bakelite "clamper" bracelet. The bracelet is a mahogany color, but after looking at the bracelet using a bright flashlight it looks like the bracelet was originally a translucent cherry red color. Over the many years since the bracelet was made, the patina has darkened to its current mahogany color as the patina has aged.
The bracelet has been decorated with a diagonal brass band that has been securely affixed to the inside edge of the bracelet. Flanking the brass accent on either side are abstract carved flower & leaf designs. The back of the bracelet is uncarved.
Based on its patina, the sleek design and the materials used in its construction, I believe the bracelet was made in the 1940's. A truly gorgeous Art Deco Era bracelet!!
The bracelet is 3/4" wide with inside dimensions of 1 5/8" from top to bottom and 2 1/4" from side to side. The bracelet weighs 37 grams.
The condition of the bracelet is excellent. No chips, scratches, or other wear related condition issues were noted. The bracelet tested positive with Simichrome polish. (See photo #10)
The tension of the spring in the clasp is outstanding and the bracelet snaps shut and stays shut when being worn. All six pins holding the clasp to the bracelet are original and seated firmly in place.
